Meet Miranda
Miranda works full-time as the Operations Manager, on-air DJ, producer, and youth broadcasting camp counselor at KXCI Community Radio. She serves on two City of Tucson commissions – the Complete Streets Coordinating Council and Board of Adjustment – and is the founder of Tucson for Everyone, a local housing and transit advocacy group and the first YIMBY Action chapter in the state of Arizona. Miranda also leads the Housing Justice Education Project, a Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona Thriving Communities Grant-funded initiative that focuses on co-organizing with community members about solutions to the affordable housing crisis. She also helped form the Transit for All Coalition (TFAC) with other community groups and organizations across Tucson to advocate for more investment in public transit.
Miranda is in her ninth season skating with Tucson Roller Derby, volunteers as a cook at Casa Maria Soup Kitchen on a weekly basis, serves as a Steering Committee member of the Tucson Alliance for Housing Justice (TAHJ), and is a dues paying union member of UCWAZ - CWA Local 7065. Having fallen in love with Tucson’s unique local character when she first moved here thirteen years ago, she and her wife Maass now own a home in Feldman’s Neighborhood with historic status and are also proud neighborhood association members. They have a sassy black cat named Snappy and a goofy white puppy named Lionel.

Miranda participated in the appointment process, and received letters of support from a diverse range of community members that highlighted her keen knowledge of local issues, strong work ethic, and collaborative nature. Here are some highlights:
